K. Carlton Johnson graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in Fine Arts. Her work has appeared in many small literary productions. She has also done several covers including Clockhouse, and Third Wednesday. She has created covers for several poet's books, including Jeffery Beam, and T. Kilgore Splake. Her work has been exhibited internationally. She was a fellow at Anderson Ranch in Minnesota and the American Academy in Rome, Italy. K. Carlton Johnson has been recognized as an art instructor and teacher for many years.
